A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to carry out a mass shooting, authorities mentioned.
In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a pupil at an elementary school.
It said its local school menace enforcement workforce was instantly notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office stated.
In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led into a police vehicle.
“This scholar’s conduct is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in a statement, noting that the menace came simply days after the lethal college capturing at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two teachers lifeless.
“Right now shouldn't be the time to act like slightly delinquent. It’s not funny,” he mentioned. “This youngster made a pretend threat, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”
