Florida man gets life in prison for traveling to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors – WFTV

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for traveling to Vietnam to sexually abuse minors he met online, according to officers.

The U.S. Department of Justice says Christopher Edwin Day, 52, traveled two completely different times in 2015 and 2016 to Vietnam from Florida to have sexual encounters with minor Vietnamese boys. Court data say he flew backwards and forwards disguising himself as an English instructor.

Among the boys, according to the DOJ, had been lured with promises of money and items. Others introduced him as their English trainer.

The Tampa Bay Information says Homeland Security investigated the case in Tampa and in Ho Chi Minh City. It was a part of Challenge Secure Childhood, which was an effort to find youngster sex abuse started in 2006 by the DOJ.

“The legal guidelines of the US will still catch up to youngster predators who even travel to international international locations to sexually abuse minor children. Thanks to HSI’s worldwide investigative authorities and strong partnerships, each at HSI Tampa and HSI Ho Chi Minh Metropolis, Vietnam, this sexual predator was stopped from harming more youngsters and his victim will have the justice they deserve,” stated HSI Tampa Assistant Special Agent in Cost John Dumas, based on a news release from mentioned HSI Tampa Assistant Particular Agent in Charge John Dumas.

Day pleaded guilty to two counts of journey with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and two counts of tried coercion and enticement of a minor into unlawful sexual exercise, based on the DOJ. Day has been sentenced to life in jail.
