A California district attorney declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Workplace concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery in opposition to another passenger on an airplane whereas waiting at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a press release.

"Our decision is that we are going to not file any charges towards Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the sufferer leading up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed on this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement agencies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
