Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives because the Taliban seized power.
“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.
“These ladies who are not too outdated or young should cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, in an effort to keep away from provocation when meeting males who will not be mahram (adult close male relatives),” the decree said.
It added that if girls had no important work outdoors it was “better they stay at home.”
Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on ladies.
