Tesla can pay travel costs for workers looking for abortion companies

Tesla is masking journey costs for employees looking for out-of-state abortions, becoming a member of the ranks of main firms who’ve introduced a similar policy to learn employees affected by new restrictions previously few months.

The company mentioned in its 2021 “ Influence Report ” launched Friday that it expanded its Safety Internet program and medical insurance choices last 12 months to include “travel and lodging help for those who might have to hunt healthcare companies which can be unavailable in their house state.”

The car maker officially moved its corporate headquarters last year from Silicon Valley to Texas, which handed a regulation banning abortions at roughly six weeks of pregnancy.

Different states have since launched new restrictions, and a political firestorm was set off this week with the leaked draft of a Supreme Courtroom opinion that would abolish a nationwide right to an abortion.

In the meantime, Republican lawmakers are taking purpose at companies providing to assist girls searching for abortions in states with much less restrictive legal guidelines.

Texas State Representative Briscoe Cain, a Republican, has stated he would suggest legislation barring local governments within the state from doing business with any company that provides travel advantages for employees looking for abortions. Nationally, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio introduced a bill on Wednesday that would prohibit firms from claiming tax deductions for such costs.

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but he tweeted in September that he believes “authorities should not often impose its will upon the people, and, when doing so, should aspire to maximise their cumulative happiness. That mentioned, I would like to stay out of politics.”
