Taliban chief orders ladies to wear all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.

“They should wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a operate in Kabul.

“Those girls who are not too previous or young should cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, in an effort to avoid provocation when meeting men who usually are not mahram (adult shut male family members),” the decree mentioned.

It added that if ladies had no necessary work exterior it was “higher they stay at residence.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on women.
