Gabe Kapler: ‘I don’t plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel better about the route of our country’

Talking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going forward till I really feel better in regards to the route of our nation."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her youngsters. They blocked parents trying to arrange to charge in to cease the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians resolve that the lobbyist and gun industries are more important than our children's freedom to go to school without needing bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the shortage of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this nation. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that once you're dissatisfied with your country, you let it be identified through protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."

Kerr refused to speak about basketball ahead of Game 4 of the Warriors' sequence towards the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.

"In the last 10 days, we've had elderly Black folks killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've children murdered at college," Kerr advised reporters at first of the press convention.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so uninterested in getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated families which are out there ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Enough."
