Talking within the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward until I really feel higher concerning the direction of our nation."

I wish that I may have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let or not it's recognized by means of protest. The home of the courageous should encourage this."
